Design & Build Quality

Anker’s design language here is minimalist yet functional. The charging station folds neatly, making it ideal for both desktops and travel.

Space-Saving Form

I, personally, love the layout of this device. I travel regularly for work and, working in tech, I usually have quite a few spare cables, a spare laptop, and other bits with me, which can lead to a pretty chaotic bag when you’re getting off a 14 hour flight, heading to a hotel and just want to sleep.

The foldable design fits neatly into a small pocket on a backpack, or into my Tomtoc cable bag. Rather than having to sort through a ton of cables when landing, or trying to find multiple sockets to plug devices into, you just need one socket, the adapter for the plug (which is supplied by Anker) and you’re set. It’s also minimalist when expanded out, which saves space on desks or nightstands.

The only slight drawback is that it lies flush on the nightstand which can make using the phone as it’s charging a little cumbersome. However, if you’re part of the no devices in bed movement, this would not be an issue for you.

Stability Issues?

If you were to dig to find a flaw, the connections between the charging stations could be considered a little…flimsy. When you disconnect your phone to the MagSafe plate to charge, it can stick with a decent bit of force being needed at times to pull it off. This exacerbates that wobble and can knock other devices off their plate and cease charging.

This isn’t a dealbreaker, but it may concern users who value long-term durability, or are not comfortable using force to remove their phone from the charger.

Charging Performance

This wireless charging station is Qi2-certified, meaning it supports full-speed 15W MagSafe wireless charging for iPhone models 12 and up. I’ve not experienced any issues with charging performance.

πŸ“± iPhone Charging

Expect full 15W power, with MagSafe-like magnetic snap alignment. I find my phone charges rather quickly (provided it hasn’t completely died) and will get a 40% charge in about 20 minutes. Sometimes, if charging to 100%, it can slow after 80%, but this is Apple’s optimised charging feature, designed to protect battery health.

⌚ Apple Watch Charging

The Apple Watch charges well, going from 10% to fully charged in 2 hours.

🎧 AirPods Charging

AirPods sit on the base with a 5W charging pad. A few users note that their AirPods can get slightly warm during charging, but I personally haven’t experienced this (AirPod Pro 2’s for reference). Reports don’t indicate that they get so hot that they pose a fire hazard however.

πŸ‘€ User Experience

I’ve been using this for a few months, and it’s come with me across the world, throughout Europe, South America and back again and I’ve had a really good experience with it.

πŸ‘ Pros:

  • Clean look and plug and play.
  • Super convenient charging.
  • Fast iPhone charging.
  • Works well for travel due to compact design.

πŸ‘Ž Potential Criticisms:

  • The pole may feel a little flimsy.
  • AirPods can overheat slightly (reported experience, not first-hand).
  • The Apple Watch charger is not ideal for left-handed access.
  • Limited compatibility outside of Apple devices.

πŸ“± Device Compatibility

The Anker MagGo 3-in-1 is optimised for Apple devices. While it technically supports Qi-enabled Android devices, the experience isn’t seamless. I’ve tried wirelessly charging Android devices using it, and whilst it works…it’s not the most effective or efficient. I would recommend only getting this if you’re fully engrained in the Apple cult ecosystem.

✈️ Travel & Portability

This device is incredibly light, weighing in at just under 150g. I strongly recommend this device if you’re a frequent traveller or a remote worker. It fits into bags easily and doesn’t take up much hotel desk space. I’ve never had an issue bringing it through airport security either.

Anker includes a 40W USB-C adapter, so no need to pack multiple chargers. They also provide worldwide plug heads for sockets around the globe. I’ve used it with Type-A, Type-C, Type-N and Type-G plug sockets without any issues.

βš’οΈ Durability and Longevity

While the components feel well-finished, the lightweight materials may reduce the unit’s lifespan if frequently dropped or mishandled. For regular home or desk use, it’s more than sufficient. I’ve not seen any deterioration in the product with my travels, but YMMV.

πŸ’° Should I buy this?

Overall, my recommendation is yes, this should be added to your purchase list. At the time of writing, it’s on sale on Amazon (note – this is not an affiliate link). It’s great value, has fantastic use cases and holds up really well. I find that Anker hardware is fantastic quality for the price point, and is usually a safe buy and this 3-in-1 charger is no different. Definitely a safe buy.
